As a legal aid client, they took my information, including my certificate number, had me sign a retainer and an intake form. I called the office to book an over the phone appointment with the lawyer who I THOUGHT I hired, and emailed her with no response or call back for a week. Called Legal aid to find out they hadn't even taken my certificate number even after filling documents. Thank God they didn't cause they don't seem very reliable anyways. I emailed her to let her know I no longer require her service and she emailed right away saying "ok, thanks for letting me know"
In February 2023, I enquired about a consultation with Andrew Rogerson. I explained clearly what I wanted to discuss and was told in an email that the cost would be $495+HST for an hour consultation. In April 2023, I booked the consultation. The person I spoke to wouldn’t honour the $495 fee I had been quoted in writing and said the consultation would be $650+HST for an hour. I was told the subject I wanted to discuss was the only one for which the consultation fee was $650. I had to wait 3 weeks for the consultation. Given the cost I sent background material to support staff for Andrew Rogerson and was told in an email it would be in my file for him to review prior to the consultation. On the day of the consultation he hadn’t yet seen or read it. The consultation wasn’t that productive. The total cost with HST was $734.50 for an hour consultation.
Brent and I have had the honour and privilege of working with 2 separate lawyers, James Bennett for a family matter and Nikhil Mukherjee for a Will dispute. We have been in safe and knowledgeable hands, any concerns we’ve had on either case have been addressed and we’ve been guided through two very separate yet simultaneous legal processes, I have never dealt with any lawyer who truly cares, and now we are with a firm that is decent and honourable. Excellent experience! My initial consultation with Andrew Rogerson was insightful , gave me a better understanding of the situation and helped to set my expectations realistically. His personal experiences gave me confidence that his law firm had the knowledge and experience I needed. Although he tried to settle the matter quickly it ended up going to a hearing, the outcome of which is not decided. Mr Robert Rastorp has been excellent representing me, providing clear, knowledgeable guidance and advice with his thorough understanding of the law in my circumstance. Special appreciation for Ms. Celine Dookie and Ms Lisa Crocker for their very pleasant support. What a great team. Regardless of the outcome, I found everyone at the Rogerson firm to be responsive, professional, and compassionate and highly recommend them.
